Hazardous Materials Courses
Hazardous Materials
Awareness Level 4 - 6 Hours - 12 to 30 Students
Awareness is the starting point. This class is required in many states as rudimentary knowledge for firefighters, EMS personnel, police officers, and many in business and industry. This is the basic knowledge that helps to keep people alive. This is the information that keeps people from doing something incredibly stupid, blundering into an area when they should stay out and and teaches them to wait for those with more experience and more training.
This class is the foundation for all common sense principles that are used to build the remainder of your hazardous materials training on. This course teaches the difference between flammable and explosive, between oxidizers and compressed gases. Students learn about placarding, labeling, and shipping papers. They learn when to attempt to gather more information, where, and how, and when to get away. They learn when to do something and when to start evacuation. A good general class for almost anyone and a requirement for those wishing to continue their haz-mat career.
